Network Firewall

Network Firewalls are network security technologies that monitor and control network traffic based on security rules that an organization’s security team defines. Firewalls establish security barriers between internal networks and external networks. They are designed to monitor and control network traffic. In other words they ensure that unwanted or unauthorized network traffic isn’t allowed into the trusted internal network. Firewalls are a protective security control, and are deployed by businesses to protect their networks and build out their initial security programs. Many have argued that firewalls have become outdated in the modern cloud first organization, where the perimeter no longer exists. In reality, the perimeter and role that firewalls plays has shifted to enforcing zero trust access controls at more granular perimeters.
