Technology companies deploy machine learning in their technologies along with artificial intelligence to process, make sense of, and learn from massive volumes of data. In order for technologies to be able to take advantage of machine learning, these technologies must have direct access to large amounts of data, and have data scientists deploying advanced mathematical theory to analyze and evaluate the data. In data security, machine learning is used to identify patterns and outliers in data sets, which in turn find security issues not immediately visible through the eyes of security professionals, or security tools that do not apply machine learning.
