Symmetry Systems is delighted to announce that we have been named a Cool Vendor in the April 2022 Gartner Cool Vendors for Data Security report.

Gartner is one of the most influential and well-known analyst firms globally, so naturally, we’re honored to be recognized as one of 2022’s Cool Vendors. We’re excited to be seen as positively impacting the greater security ecosystem, especially as we believe Gartner reserves its prestigious Cool Vendor designation for companies creating innovative technology.

As more and more organizations are building out their Zero Trust Architecture, they realize that Zero Trust starts with data — where is our sensitive data, who has access to it and how is it being used. Symmetry provides unified visibility into data objects across all data stores in your hybrid cloud. We can provide answers to data security and compliance questions that traditional cloud security tools cannot.

Data has become the world’s most valuable resource, and companies now must do everything they can to protect it. While cloud storage, computing, and applications have all increased our productivity, they’ve also created a host of additional data security problems that businesses must solve to maintain the integrity of their most valuable assets.

Gartner recommends Security and Risk Management (SRM) leaders whose businesses are transitioning to the cloud should “adopt and implement products that offer data security posture management (DSPM).” DSPM can be thought of as a data-centric security solution that provides organizations with a direct line of sight into all their data, a set of recommended next steps to reduce cybersecurity and compliance risk, and an ongoing detection and response service.

Gartner further notes, “Data security governance requires tools that create a data catalog and data map across a variety of structured and unstructured data repositories within a number of cloud service platforms and services and on-premises.” That’s why Symmetry Systems DataGuard pioneered the concept of the hybrid cloud data security platform, safeguarding data in AWS, GCP, Azure services, and on-premise. DataGuard quickly learns data objects from SQL, NoSQL, and object stores and maps all principals and objects in a user’s system. It also provides an assessment of all data stores, even as granular as unique objects, and provides alerts with evidence-based notifications during operations to ensure infrastructure engineers have access to identity and access management (IAM) protection recommendations.

We see the Gartner Cool Vendor recognition as a testament to the dedicated and talented team we have here at Symmetry Systems. We thank our customers and partners that are on this path with us and look forward to creating new partnerships as we continue down our journey together.
